[NoHo Arts District, CA] – A NoHo Arts music review of Theda Phoenix’s Crystal Calm Volume 2.

Theda Phoenix is a British Columbian singing bowl performing artist and singer-songwriter. Her album Crystal Calm Volume 2 is 60 minutes of deeply moving and profoundly successful meditation therapy. I tried it. Lying in my room, desperately in need of some self love. And can I tell you that I have never felt so relaxed and rejuvenated! It’s as if the sounds of the bowls and her beautiful soft voice combine to unlock and release all the tension, the fear, the disconnect we all feel that builds and builds with nowhere to go.

I like to think I am a spiritual person, but I certainly don’t practice anything specific or regularly meditate. So this is an unusual thing for me to do, but since the music was an assignment, I found myself fully committing to it. If I’m honest, I didn’t expect to last the hour though. But I am thrilled that I did, effortlessly it seems.

Theda Phoenix brings us to a place of calm and quiet within ourselves with this strange and magical blend of various sizes and tones of crystal bowls, Phoenix’s voice and also incredibly vivid recordings of India’s Ganges River tributaries, recorded live by producer Sam Ryan.

It’s truly a sound bath. An uplifting, soul-touching journey through something…maybe anything you personally have to go through. It felt safe and nurturing, and an absolutely musical experience.

There’s something primal and deeply human about this music. It’s like the ancestors are calling…and I know that sounds nuts, believe me. But I felt it. Theda Phoenix has created sound alchemy…I have recommended this beautiful album to several friends and family…hoping they can experience the gift that this gorgeous music is. You will absolutely love this!!!
