MashUp’s International Women’s Day Festival

Join MashUp this weekend, March 5-8, for their International Women’s Day Festival!

Celebrating its fifth year, MashUp’s International Women’s Day Festival is BACK with a completely safe, pandemic-approved virtual dance experience! International Women’s Day recognizes the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality. Each year the global campaign creates a theme to forge a gender equal world by redesigning and questioning the status quo. This year’s theme reigns true and as relevant as ever: CHOOSE TO CHALLENGE.

Participating in this global dialogue, while facilitating local connections, MashUp is excited to announce this year’s Festival line up. This event is crafted specifically for early and mid career dancers, and this year, MashUp is honored to have four renowned, unique choreographers teaching FREE master classes: Karen Chuang, Mary Ann Chavez, Sidra Bell (from New York City!), and Tina Finkelman Berkett of BodyTraffic.

Catch new choreography from Madison Hicks, Amy O’Neal, Azuki Umeda, Diana Schoenfield, Eugenia Rodriguez, Deborah Brockus, Kate Hutter and MANY more on Saturday night and during closing celebration!

Or if chatting is more your thing, join them  for an intimate discussion with LA Contemporary Dance Company’s Artistic Director Jamila Glass and former Artistic Director Genevieve Carson on Sunday, March 7, followed by a discussion led by Christine Suarez about how we might reshape L.A.’s dance ecosystem as we re-emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic.
