[NoHo Arts District, CA] – A NoHo Arts theatre review of Fielding Edlow’s Gaslighting Is My Love Language at Whitefire Theatre’s Solofest 2025.
I saw Gaslighting Is My Love Language initially last year at the Hollywood Fringe Festival and loved it. However, Fielding has developed it further after a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. I have to say I enjoyed it even more!
Fielding is a brilliantly talented comic actor. But, this show isn’t a fictional narrative she has invented. This is her life. And it is this that makes her iridescent and absolutely hilarious rants so poignant. She is an open book. Able to maintain an incredible amount of candor…probably too much for her husband and child, but her honesty is her superpower.
She takes us through her last couple of decades with a mind to explain her present. She was married to a successful working actor who leveraged his success to diminish her existence. Even if he was unaware of his treachery, he’s still a dick to do that to her. Especially as she loved and supported him unconditionally. But that’s all over now and they have uncoupled so to speak. Although there was some amount of acrimony, they have to live in the same world, in the same town and essentially even in the same workspace. So, Fielding has found a kind of peace with it all and as she navigates her life as a single hot female, it’s apparent that she values their time together…if only for the juicy comic material.

Gaslighting Is My Love Language is a non-stop high-energy romp through Feilding’s fascinating life. Dating, motherhood, comedy and family.
She is so good at setting the scenes in her life on fire while still bringing us into the inner circle to observe. Like a cornered cat, she might fight and spit and revel in the absurdities, but she loves her family, her child and even her ex and it runs through the show keeping her honest and us connected. Through it all there is a very compelling tenderness. Although, she might not admit to it. Like when your friends fire off about something rancid but you know they are working their way through it all, back to understanding and acceptance and eventually some kind of necessary peace with it.
That’s what the show is all about. A very smart, extremely funny woman finding her own path through her life with no apologies, no excuses and a lot of laughter.
Fielding Edlow’s Gaslighting Is My Love Language is an absolutely mind-blowingly excellent life monologue. Seemingly effortless in delivery, but truly finely honed and beautifully performed. I absolutely love this show she just gets better each time I see her and I can only hope you get a chance to see Fielding in action sometime soon! You’ll love her!!
